Valentine's
Day. The Hallmark Holiday. It's on Valentine's Day that couples
exchange cards, candies, flowers, and other things. Why? Why does one
need to buy, or give something to someone to show them how much they
love them? It's because this world has become so overly obessed, with
material possessions, that we feel the need to give or recieve
something on every holiday. But what about those who have no one to
share this holiday with? What to they get? I'll tell you. They get
another pint of ice cream, another senseless chick flick, and a
wonderful night of going to bed alone. Some Holiday. But I have
recently discovered that there is a holiday for us single people. It's
called SAD. Singles Awareness Day. It's a chance for those of us, who
have no one to celebrate with on this day of love. But when I really
think about it, it really is Sad. So for those of us who are single,
why do we bother with another commericalized Holiday? It's because we
want there to be something in our lives other then what we have now. I
know that for awhile I gave the impression that I didn't want anyone,
and you know for long time I didn't. I guess what I'm trying to say is
that this holiday seems pointless to me. Even when I was with someone,
Valentine's Day was just another day.
